Will Aadhaar solve the identification problems of the Indian residents?
Government of India has initiated the planning of issuing unique identification Numbers to all the Indian residents in order to facilitate the welfare services in a better manner. Every resident in India shall be provided with a 12 digit unique number to identify the residents. Impressions of all the fingers and iris are taken for issuing the unique id number. UIDAI ( Unique Identification Authority of India) was formed and was given the responsibility to issue the unique id to individuals.
At present ration card, driving license, voter id card, bank passbook, pan card and passport are used to identify a person. Aadhaar is a central database and different registering authorities can use the data base to identify a person. Banks, mobile phone service providers, state governments providing ration through PDS system, income tax authorities can avail this database to identify the individual.
How to get aadhaar ( unique id number): UIDAI authorities will publicize the schedule of issuing aadhaar at the locally and the individuals have to carry certain documents and the UIDAI officials will take photograph , impressions of ten fingers and iris and assign the unique id number.
