Maruti Suzuki is the highest seller of passenger cars inIndia. So far Maruti Suzuki is having only hatchbacks and sedans. But Now Maruti Suzuki is planning MPV (Multi Utility Vehicle) in the Indian market. Presently Toyota Innova is a successful MPV in Indian markets. To compete with Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo Maruti Suzuki is launching Ertiga as MPV in Indian market. With the launch of Ertiga at Auto Expo 2012 inNew Delhi, Maruti Suzuki is claiming its intent to enter into MPV market and extend its range of models. According to Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is then first MPV with three rows of seating.

Petrol variant of Ertiga comes with 1.4 liter engine that produces a power of 94 ps at 6000 rpm and the diesel variant comes with 1.3 liter DDiS super turbo engine that produces a maximum power of 88 Ps. The front side design resembles that of Maruti Suzuki Ritz and interiors that of Suzuki Swift.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Diesel/ petrol Mileage: the petrol variant of Ertiga is expected to give a mileage of 16 kmpl of petrol and Diesel variant a mileage of 20 kmpl of diesel making it the highest fuel efficient car in this segment.

The official price of Maruti Ertiga is not yet announced but it is expected to be around Rs.6-8 lakhs. This seems to be cheapest MPV in the market.

which is a better MPV: Innova or Ertiga
Its difficult to compare Ertiga with Innova as they belong to two different segments of automobile market. If you need compact MPV that costs around 7 lakhs than Ertiga is for you. But if you need comfort of a fullsize 7-8 seater vehicle than go for Innova. According to what i have read till now, Ertiga and Innova belong to two different segments of our auto market and thus would have their own different set of customers. Ertiga is a compact MPV little bigger than a standard mid size sedan and is as wide as the new Swift. Whereas Innova is more like a full size 8 seat van.
