Onakkodi is new clothes, ona sadhya is a lavish feast and Pookalam is then decoration of court yard with flowers and flower petals. Onam is celebrated as a welcome to ancient emperor Mahabali. It is said that Mahabali has ruled Kerala state in ancient times and the stat5e has prospered during the rule of Mahabali.
