Tamilnadu is having the longest coastline of about 1000 kms. This has opportunity to develop beaches across the sea coast. Tamilnadu tourism has attracted about 2 million foreign and 78 million of domestic tourists in 2009 and is showing more than 20% growth rate.

Tamilnadu tourism has won international wards for its presentation of Mamaillapuram heritage value by PATA Gold award. National awards won by Tamilnadu tourism include “Best Rural tourism Project”, “Best collateral publicity” and “Best NGO” from Ministry of Tourism, Government of India for the year 2006-07.
