UP (Uttar Pradesh) is the largest state inIndia. Elections to UP are scheduled to be held in February 2012. Every citizen desirous of casting their votes have to have Voter ID card with them. Any citizen above the age of 18 years is eligible to have voting rights inIndia. Citizens above 18 years old can have voter id cards being issued by the state election commissions of their respective states. www.ceouttarpradesh.nic.in is the official website of chief election officer of Uttar Pradesh state. Voters of Uttar Pradesh can get details about the voters list at the website. Election commission issues EPIC (Electoral Photo Identity Card) to all the voters in UP that is called as Voter ID card. It is mandatory for all voters to carry EPIC (Voter ID) card to cast their vote inIndia.
How to register as voters in UP (Uttar Pradesh) / Getting Voter ID in UP: Election commission of UP makes enumeration of voters by conducting house to house survey and prepares the voters list booth wise and publishes draft of list of voters for each booth. If any Voters does not find his/ her name in the voters list one can apply in Form 6 to have himself registered as voter and the election commission issues Voter ID card in the name of the voter.
How to make changes in the voter Id card in UP: If there are any errors found in the name sex, address in the voters list the same can be rectified by submitting Form 8 to the election commission. If the address of the voter is changed from one polling booth to other in the same assembly constituency the same can be changed by submitting form 8A.
