As electricity prices keep rising, it’s more important than ever that appliances are as efficient as possible. Air conditioner efficiency has improved year by year thanks to the government’s Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS) program, but cooling and heating accounts for about 38% of an average household’s energy usage; that can add up to hundreds or even thousands of dollars over a year.
